How to Promote a Club Night
A club night sells in two bursts: the first 48 hours after you announce, and the last three days before the event. Promotion is mostly about making those two bursts as big as possible. This is a four-week plan for a monthly night.
Four weeks out: announce once, properly
- Publish the event in slash.fm with the flyer, lineup and ticket types.
- Create a tracked link for each promoter on the event's Promote tab.
- Announce everywhere on the same morning with the date, venue, lineup, flyer and a working ticket link.
- Message everyone who came last time.
Tip: An announcement without a ticket link wastes the first burst.
Weeks two and three: the quiet middle
Sales slow down here, and that's normal. Use the time for things that pay off in the final week: set times, a short video of the headliner, photos from last month. Post two or three times a week.
Check promoter links on the Promote tab. Put your energy behind the promoters who are selling, and give them their own promo code for their circle.
The final week
| Day | Post |
|---|---|
| Monday | The early tier is gone or nearly gone. Real scarcity moves people who were waiting. |
| Wednesday | Set times. People make weekend plans midweek. |
| Friday or the day of | One post with the start time, the price and the ticket link. |
After the night
Post photos within two days and tag people. Then look at the event's Overview: which promoter links sold, which ticket types sold out, and how many people actually scanned in. That's next month's plan.
Start selling
Sign up with your phone number, create your organization and put in your first event: tickets, guest list and tables. No contract and no monthly fee. New organizers are reviewed before their first event goes live, usually within a day.
