Going to an event

Staying safe at events

Practical tips for a safe night out: plan your way home, stay with friends, watch your drink and get help early.

Before you go

  • Plan how you're getting home.
  • Tell someone where you're going and who with.
  • Charge your phone, and open your ticket in the app so it works offline.
  • Eat beforehand.

At the event

  • Agree a meeting point in case you get separated.
  • Drink water regularly and take breaks somewhere cooler.
  • Watch your drink and don't accept drinks from strangers. If you suddenly feel much more drunk than you should, tell a friend and staff straight away.
  • Don't leave a friend who is unwell, very drunk, or with someone they've just met.

If someone is unwell

Get staff or the medical team and stay with them. Tell medics honestly what the person has had. If someone is unconscious, struggling to breathe, having a seizure, or very hot and confused, call 911.

Getting home

Leave with the people you came with, or tell them you're going. Use licensed taxis or app-booked rides, check the plate before you get in, and share your trip.
